WEDDING CEREMONY:
We will be having a Quaker-style
wedding ceremony. For those of you not
familiar with the Quaker tradition and Meeting for Worship, it can be very
different from other wedding services or ceremonies you may be used to and we
encourage you to seek out a Quaker meeting in your area before attending.
Quaker meetings are based in
worship through silence and reflection.
During marriage ceremonies, this reflection is often centered on the
couple getting married and their future lives together. The meeting begins when the first person
takes their seat, at which time silence commences as the rest of the attendees
take their seats.
Silence is maintained until a
member is moved to stand and deliver a message.
Anyone can contribute as they feel moved or inspired, and messages
should be short, concise, and directed towards the couple or the meeting as a
whole. Out of the silence the couple
will stand and exchange words conveying their commitment to each other, and
will then sign a wedding certificate. The
ceremony ends with a handshake between neighbors, afterwards all present are
encouraged to sign the certificate as witnesses of the marriage.

7:30pm Welcome dinner (BBQ and Summer
Potluck)
Saturday July 1st:
8:00am Continental Breakfast
9:00-3:00pm Fun time at Common Ground Center or beyond!
4:00pm Wedding
Ceremony (rain location: Holley Hall, 1 South St., Bristol VT)
5:15pm Drinks, Dinner, Dancing, Pies, and general merriment
Sunday July 2nd
8:30- 11:00am Bride’s Breakfast
8:00-12:00 Pack up and go…
12:00 Au Revoir!
